Applicants for the several Group A, B, and C positions shall possess the following minimum academic qualifications and work experience:
Group A Posts – Advanced Eligibility Criteria
These vacancies are reserved for senior-level positions with high academic and professional experience. Potential candidates should have deep domain expertise and qualifications in science, education, or administration.
- Principal Scientific Officer
- Required Degree: B.E./B.Tech., M.Sc., or MCA First Class or equivalent (minimum 60% marks).
- Experience: At least 15 years in Scientific/Technical posts, of which 8 years as Senior Scientific/Technical Officer in Pay Band-3 with Grade Pay ₹7600 or equivalent.
- Student Activity & Sports (SAS) Officer

Selection Process
Selection for the 33 Group A, B & C Non-Teaching vacancies in NIT Jamshedpur will be held in various stages based on the nature of the vacancy. Below is the detailed division:
1. Computer Based Test (CBT) – Objective Type
- All the eligible candidates will have to initially appear for a Computer Based Test (CBT).
- The CBT will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
- The questions will assess candidates’ knowledge in areas such as:
- General Awareness
- Reasoning Ability
- Quantitative Aptitude
- English Language (Subject-specific knowledge (according to the post))
- Negative Marking: ¼ mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
