Note: Candidates must have a minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA. Final year/semester students expecting their results by 14.08.2026 can also apply.
Salary and Benefits
Candidates will get a pay scale of ₹40,000 – 1,40,000 (IDA) during the one-year training. They will receive a basic pay of ₹40,000 along with IDA, HRA, and perks at 12% of the basic pay during training.
- During Training: Rs 11.00 lakhs
- After successful completion of Training: Rs 22.50 lakhs
Note: selected candidates will be required to execute a service agreement bond to successfully complete the prescribed training period for at least three years. Amount of the bond is INR 5,00,000/- for General/ OBC (NCL)/EWS candidates and INR 2,50,000/- for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.

Selection Procedure
- Only candidates who clear the relevant paper in GATE 2026 will be eligible for the next stage of selection. The qualifying marks will be decided by the GATE 2026 exam authority.
- Qualified candidates will be shortlisted category-wise for Group Discussion and Personal Interview based on their normalized GATE 2026 score out of 100 in the relevant paper, as per the criteria set by the management.
- Candidates can attend the GD/Interview in Hindi or English.
- Candidates can check their application status by logging into the POWERGRID Online Application System. Shortlisted candidates can also download their interview call letter and other documents from the same login. Those called for Group Discussion and Interview must bring the documents mentioned in the call letter.
- Qualifying percent in interview for different categories: (i) Unreserved/EWS: 40% (ii) OBC(NCL)/ SC/ST/PwBD: 30%
- Shortlisted candidates for GD and interview may also have to take a psychometric test, and its result will be considered during the interview. Only those who clear the Personal Interview will be found suitable for the final list. So, candidates must qualify in both GATE 2026 and the Personal Interview separately to be considered for selection.

- A separate notice with details like number of vacancies, reservation, instructions for applying online, interview dates, and other guidelines will be uploaded on the POWERGRID website around February/March 2026.
- The application for POWERGRID is expected to open in February/March 2026. Candidates must apply online on the POWERGRID website by entering their GATE 2026 Application Number, Registration Number, and other required details. The link will be available in the CAREER section at www.powergrid.in.
- Candidates must keep their GATE 2026 Admit Card and Score Card safe. These will be needed for verification during GD, interview, medical test, or joining at POWERGRID.
Application Fee
- SC/ST/PwBD/ Ex-SM/ Departmental candidates are exempted from payment of application fees.
- You need to log in to your candidate account and pay a non-refundable application fee of ₹500 through online mode only. After paying the fee, your application will be considered complete.
