NCL Technician Recruitment Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should thoroughly go through the eligibility criteria for educational qualification and age limits before filling up the application form.
Educational Qualification:
- Candidates should have passed Matriculation (10th Class) or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board.
- Should hold ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certificate in the concerned trade (e.g., Fitter, Electrician, Welder, Machinist – specific trades will be mentioned in Table A of the official notification) from an NCVT/SCVT recognized institute.
- Should have undergone Apprenticeship Training under Apprenticeship Act 1961 in the concerned trade.

NCL Technician Recruitment Process 2025
The recruitment process for the NCL Technician positions generally comprises the following phases:
- Computer Based Test (CBT): Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for an objective-type Computer Based Test. The test typically tests domain knowledge (pertaining to the respective ITI trade) and general aptitude (covering topics such as Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, General Awareness, and English). The detailed syllabus and marking scheme will be given in the official notification.
- Document Verification: Candidates who qualify in the CBT based on merit will be called for Document Verification. Original documents concerning age, education, caste, experience (if any), etc., will be verified.
- Initial Medical Examination (IME): Candidates clearing the Document Verification round will be required to undergo an Initial Medical Examination as per Coal India Limited’s prescribed standards.
Final selection shall be made based on the candidate’s performance in the CBT, subject to clearing Document Verification and the IME.
